Presentations – 2 NEW PRESENTATIONS ADDED
Red7 & Bridgwater Tidal Barrier
Kristen Branford, Chief Client Officer at Ancora and Managing Director of Red7Marine, will introduce Red7Marine and the Ancora Group, alongside highlighting Red7Marine’s previous piling projects. Marcus Smith, Senior Project Manager at Kier, will provide an overview of the Bridgwater Tidal Barrier project, while Adam Kiely, Contracts Manager at Red7Marine, will discuss Red7Marine’s role in the project, including test piling activities and value engineering initiatives that have supported the delivery of the scheme.

Stabilisation Design of Albert Pier, Jersey – Arup
Scott Reid, Associate at Arup, will present on the challenges and solutions associated with safeguarding the historic Albert Pier in St Helier Harbour, Jersey. Constructed in 1853 as a core filled gravity structure and now Grade II listed, the pier faces stability risks from planned dredging works to support the future expansion of Elizabeth Harbour for lift-on/lift-off container operations. The presentation will explore the optioneering process for remedial works, the selection of a preferred steel piled solution, and how innovative installation techniques can improve understanding and management of potential ground movement impacts.

SmartSheetPile: Combining Decarbonisation, Digitalisation and Lifecycle
Performance

Leila Novalic, Environmental Specialist from ArcelorMittal Luxembourg, will present the SmartSheetPile system, which combines steel sheet piles produced via the Electric Arc Furnace route with embedded sensors that monitor structural, geotechnical, hydraulic and environmental parameters. Data is transmitted to cloud-based platforms, where analytics and digital twin models are used to assess current performance and predict future behaviour. Continuous monitoring can inform predictive maintenance, risk management and lifecycle optimisation while reducing embodied carbon.

Design of the Marine Bulk Import Facility at Sizewell C
Mathew Howells, Associate at Tony Gee and Partners, will present the design of the Marine Bulk Import Facility at Sizewell C, exploring the engineering challenges behind one of the UK’s major new nuclear infrastructure projects. The presentation will provide an insight into the design and delivery of the jetty, which will facilitate the import of 3.2 million tonnes of aggregate.

Debate: Changing Face of Steel Imports: Quotas, Tariffs & CBAM
Representatives from the Industry including David Rodgers – Cleveland Steel and Tube, Alan Vaughan – ArcelorMittal and Andrew Cotton – Sheet Piling UK.
Location
There are a number of underground tube stations within 15 minutes walk of Arup, as well as train stations and bus stops. Please advise us ASAP of any access requirements.
